Skilled Workforce & Education

In order to maintain their competitiveness, companies are dependent on well-trained employees. Training and further education play a decisive role in the development of future-proof technologies. Strengthening skills is essential, particularly in the context of the powertrain transition. The State Agency e-mobil BW supports the automotive industry in Baden-Württemberg with targeted training programmes and qualification projects.

Creative concepts and innovations are needed to successfully meet the challenges of the transition to electric mobility and a climate-friendly future. Only the combination of research and industry can deliver these. Baden-Württemberg, as a leading research and technology hub, has a strong opportunity to successfully shape and benefit from this transformation process.

Vocational Training and Workforce Qualification in the Automotive Industry

Employees with the necessary knowledge and skills are essential for companies to successfully navigate the powertrain transition. To support this, e-mobil BW organizes and participates in a range of initiatives and projects aimed at school pupils, students and skilled workers in vocational education and training.

QualiBattBW: Advanced Training in Battery Technology

The project QualiBattBW develops practical learning units focused on battery technology. More than 50 targeted training components support small and medium-sized enterprises along the battery value chain. The content is created in close collaboration with industry partners, educational institutions, and leading research organizations from Baden-Württemberg. Employees are given free access to the training offerings, which are continuously refined based on user feedback. e-mobil BW acts as the consortium leader for the project. The goal is to build an excellent base of skilled professionals for the automotive industry across the entire battery value chain and the broader ecosystem. In addition, a tailored consulting offer for companies and a series of events are being developed.

Voltage: Vocational Education in the Battery Industry

The Erasmus+ project Voltage aims to establish „Centres of Vocational Excellence“ (CoVEs) for the emerging battery industry in several European regions. The goal is to train qualified professionals for the increasing number of new battery factories in Europe and to align vocational education closely with the needs of the industry. A key focus is the upskilling of teachers to ensure that current technological developments are conveyed in a practical and application-oriented manner. By building networks, the project strengthens knowledge exchange between education and industry - an essential foundation for the competitiveness and long-term resilience of the European battery sector. e-mobil BW is working on these activities together with the Technical Academy for Vocational Education Schwäbisch Gmünd as the German project partners.

Education Initiatives in Schools and Universities

As part of KLIMAWIN, e-mobil BW employees visit secondary schools and universities to support teenagers and young adults in their career choice and orientation phase with presentations, information events or project days.

Through the so-called MobilTecTours, e-mobil BW offers students from universities across Baden-Württemberg the opportunity to gain insights into future-oriented and innovative fields during the Hannover Messe, while also allowing them to make initial contacts and build professional networks. To support this, e-mobil BW organizes both the travel to and from the event as well as a guided tour of the trade fair. The project contributes to securing the next generation of skilled professionals for Baden-Württemberg.

Dialog Format to Support Companies in Workforce Qualification

The transformation of the automotive industry is bringing about major technological and structural changes. As a result, the need for employee qualification is also increasing. To secure jobs in Baden-Württemberg over the long term and in future fields of employment, the topics of “Learning and Qualification” are of critical importance. In response, the Strategic Dialog for the Automotive Sector in Baden-Württemberg and Information centre for the transformation of the automotive sector in Baden-Württemberg have established the dialog format for "transfer qualification and readiness for change" in cooperation with companies. This initiative aims to support businesses - especially SMEs - in developing and implementing qualification strategies and in strengthening employees’ adaptability. In addition, the Strategic Dialogue addresses challenges related to workforce qualification and the recruitment of young talent through discussions with social partners and medium-sized enterprises in Baden-Württemberg.
