A French company delegation from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region visited the members of the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West at the Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart.
From 23 to 25 May at the Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart, more than 30 members of the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West present their solutions and products along the battery value chain. Together with the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and Baden-Württemberg International, the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West organised a guided tour at the trade fair for a delegation with around 25 representatives of French industry.
On the day before the trade fair, an exchange on the battery ecosystem in Baden-Württemberg took place for the companies of the French delegation. Yannick Heller, Baden-Württemberg International, gave an overview of Baden-Württemberg as a business location and the support available for companies interested in setting up in the region. Felicitas Behr, e-mobil BW GmbH, presented the battery ecosystem and the activities of the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West. In addition, the French company representatives were able to network with each other and with German guests from industry and research at a networking dinner. Among the French company representatives were manufacturers of electronic components, lithium-ion batteries, stationary energy storage systems as well as machines and production lines. On the first day of the trade fair, the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West organised two guided tours for the French company representatives. During the guided tours, cluster members comemso GmbH, Coperion GmbH, ElringKlinger AG, Konzelmann GmbH and Manz AG presented their solutions and products to the French guests. The competences of the cluster members range from components for the battery cell, process solutions for battery cell production to the testing of battery management systems and match the interests of the French delegation.
First contacts for further cooperation between the French and German companies were already made during the guided tour at the fair. Thanks to the longstanding cooperation within the framework of the Electric and Hydrogen Mobility working group of the Four Motors for Europe, coordinated by e-mobil BW, there is a continuing close relationship between the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and Baden-Württemberg and a regular exchange on current developments, strategies and projects.
The "Four Motors for Europe" were founded in 1988 by the regions Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (France), Baden-Württemberg (Germany), Catalonia (Spain) and Lombardy (Italy). The cooperation focuses on topics in the fields of economy, research, technology and culture. In April 2023, Baden-Württemberg took over the presidency of the Four Motors for Europe from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and published this year's work programme.
Baden-Württemberg‘s presidency will focus on the areas of economic transformation, technological transition, and the reduction of CO2 emissions with the guiding theme „New economic perspectives: Transformation as an opportunity for the viability of our regions“. Networking and exchange between the regions should therefore foster the transformation process. This development is to be supported by various side events.
Based on this cooperation, there is a continuing contact between the Cluster Electric Mobility South-West and the French network CARA. Between 2017 and 2021, both networks implemented the cooperation project "Franco-German Alliance for Innovative Mobility Technologies - AllFraTech". First, a joint strategy for long-term technological cooperation between the two innovation networks was developed. A key objective was the targeted support of small and medium-sized enterprises in cross-border cooperation. Based on the jointly developed cooperation strategy, the two cross-border research and development projects EMCC and InnoTherMS could be implemented within the framework of AllFraTech between 2019 and 2021 with the participation of companies, universities and research institutions from both regions.
