Hydrogen technology
On 1 and 2 October 2025, high-ranking representatives from politics, business and associations met in Brussels at the Baden-Württemberg – EU 2025 Economic Summit.
Under the motto ‘New Realities: Impulses for Europe's Competitiveness’, discussions focused on how Europe can maintain its strength in an increasingly complex global environment with new realities, and how technological sovereignty, innovation and fair competition conditions can be secured. It is therefore very important for Baden-Württemberg to discuss these issues directly with EU representatives in Brussels.
The debates made it clear that Europe needs tangible relief in the internal market, clear framework conditions for fair competition, and structures that promote innovation and technological independence.
The state agency e-mobil BW was also present in Brussels to actively involve Baden-Württemberg in the international mobility transition and to promote future value creation, from charging infrastructure to hydrogen and synthetic fuels to range extender technologies. The economic summit provided an opportunity to strengthen international contacts between clusters, networks and experts in Europe and to enhance knowledge and technology transfer. Specifically, this meant:
Participation and keynote speech by Franz Loogen, Managing Director of e-mobil BW, at the pre-event ‘Shaping the Shift – The Four Motors for Europe Leading Transformation in the Automotive Sector’ – a forum in which international partner regions work closely together to shape the transformation of the automotive industry. Here, he also expressly emphasised the opportunities and possibilities offered by the transformation. Growth drivers such as battery technology, chip technology including chiplets, AI and software in vehicles were clearly identified.
Participation in the Summit Talk on ‘Scaling Hydrogen Technologies: Opportunities and Challenges for Europe’ – a clear statement on the importance of technological innovations with international impact.
The Baden-Württemberg – EU 2025 Economic Summit showed that politics, business and research must join forces across Europe. e-mobil BW is making a significant contribution to this by networking and positioning Baden-Württemberg not only nationally but also internationally. Only through targeted cooperation across national borders can the mobility transition truly succeed – for a competitive, sustainable and innovative future for Europe.
