Seven selected British companies from the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will begin their four-month working stay in Baden-Württemberg in October. They are participating in the British government's UK Tech Accelerator Programme, which is entering its second round this year. The aim of the programme is to connect innovative British technology companies with leading partners in Baden-Württemberg and to promote new collaborations in the field of AI.
On 29 October 2025, the participating companies were officially welcomed in Stuttgart by Dr Patrick Rapp, State Secretary in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, and Mark Dittmer-Odell, British Consul General. ‘The fact that the British government has chosen Baden-Württemberg as a partner for this programme underlines the importance of Baden-Württemberg as a location,’ emphasised State Secretary Rapp in his welcoming speech.
The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism feels strengthened in its long-standing economic cooperation with the United Kingdom: "Our cooperation is bearing further fruit. For Baden-Württemberg, cooperation with leading international technology partners is extremely valuable, particularly in terms of securing our long-term competitiveness. Close cooperation with the United Kingdom strengthens mutual innovation – in this case, “hardware meets software” and can complement each other perfectly in terms of value creation," Rapp continued.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, Baden-Württemberg International (BW_i) and the BW-UK Office are supporting the seven British scale-ups during their stay in the south-west. The aim of the programme is to connect innovative British technology companies with leading Baden-Württemberg companies and the Baden-Württemberg technology ecosystem and to promote new collaborations in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
The UK Tech Accelerator Programme is being implemented by the British Department for Business and Trade (DBT) in close cooperation with the state of Baden-Württemberg and was developed as part of the Baden-Württemberg – UK partnership initiative. Following a successful launch in 2024, which focused on start-ups, the second round is now aimed at scale-ups with market-ready solutions in the field of Enterprise AI. Baden-Württemberg and the UK see the continuation of this cooperation as an important step in shaping technological progress together. Both partners share the vision of promoting prosperity and employment through innovation and strengthening Europe's competitiveness in the long term.
